Goat’s Horns Torn Out In ‘Barbaric’ Attack

I kept goats for a number of years and know only to well how friendly they are and how they can easily become like family members. I have just been reading about an attack on one goat that has really bloody well angered me. It senseless, its as the title says “Barbaric”. What is wrong with the mind set of some people today, oh i am so annoyed right now and find it hard to write what i really feel.

A goat had to be put down after his horns were torn out in what an RSPCA inspector described as one of the worst cases of animal cruelty she had ever seen.

Sidney, a 19-year-old black pygmy goat, was found dripping in blood after he was attacked for no apparent reason.

His horns were pulled out and he had one dislocated leg and another broken in two places.

Deborah Bailey, co-owner of the Tennyson Horse and Pony Sanctuary in Middleton, Greater Manchester, where Sidney had lived for a decade, said he was considered a member of the family.

“It was my 13-year-old son that found him,” she told Sky News.

“My 12-year-old daughter has taken it really badly, she has gone away to stay with her grandmother for a while.

“It is unbearable to think about. Sidney was basically tortured to death.”

Mrs Bailey, who took Sidney in 10 years ago, said he had the run of the farm, but had a favourite spot where he spent the nights which was out of sight of the road.

“We have not a clue in the world why he was attacked, but someone would have had to know where he was.

“He would not have come out at night but would have gone to his little home under some trees where it is very dark.”

The RSPCA is now hunting for the people who committed the “senseless” act.

Describing Sidney’s injuries as one of the worst acts of animal cruelty she had ever seen, RSPCA inspector Caroline Hall said the kindest thing she could do for Sidney was to put him down.

“It was dreadful – Sidney had two huge caverns in his head where his horns had been ripped out and he was dripping in blood.

“Sidney has lived happily at the sanctuary for about 10 years and there doesn’t seem to be any reason why anyone would attack him in this cruel way.”

A fence was destroyed during the incident, which took place between 8pm on Thursday, August 26, and midday Friday, August 27, but no other animals were injured and nothing was stolen.

Ms Hall appealed to anyone with any information about the incident to contact the RSPCA.

“Those responsible for this dreadful attack would probably have gone home muddy and covered in blood,” she said. “If you have any information at all about this incident, then please get in touch as soon as possible.”

Mrs Bailey added: “We are praying to God someone comes forward.”

Anyone with information can call the RSPCA in confidence on 0300 1234 999 and leave a message for Ms Hall.

So sorry Sidney that you had to endure this awful attack and also sorry for those who loved Sidney.

R.I.P. Sidney.

Hair Relaxers

I have shoulder length hair its very thick and wavy, i would not say real curly. Anyway i have always loved my hair but would have liked it to be straight, So when Hair straighteners came out i was in and since then have always straightened my hair using them. Recently i have seen these DIY hair relaxer’s kits for sale, i have read some reviews online about them and there are good and bad reviews. Most do say though that if you go this route then to go for an Olive Oil based relaxer’s as theses cause less irritation and are supposed to be less harmful to the hair if the directions are followed to the letter.

Now reviews online are all well and good but before i consider trying this i would prefer more thoughts on this.

Have you tried them?

How easy was it to use?

Did it work?

How long did it last?

Any problems you had?

Thanks

New UK Passport Unveiled

In an effort to fight identity theft and fraud a new UK passport is being unveiled. The new passport will be available from October.

The new passport hides the security chip from view, it has personal details section that uses holograms. Pages will feature scenes like the White Cliffs of Dover, Ben Nevis and the Giant’s Causeway.

The government says the new passport will give UK citizens added protection from identity theft and fraud.

The key difference between existing passports and the new ones is that the security chip – which holds owners’ personal details – will no longer be visible, instead hidden within the inside cover.

This, the government claims, will make it much harder to replace the chip without causing noticeable damage to the passport cover.

To bring the UK in line with much of the rest of the world, the personal details section will be moved from the back of the passport to the second page. This is to help speed up travellers’ passage through border controls.

Other changes include printing another photograph of the holder on the observations page, and stretching designs across two pages rather than one.

The chief executive of the Identity and Passport Service, Sarah Rapson, said: “Through its combination of physical and electronic security features, the UK passport remains one of the most secure and trusted documents in the world, meeting rigorous international standards.

“The new design is part of our strategy to stay ahead of criminals who look to fraudulently alter or copy passports.”

The new passport will replace the version upgraded in 2006, which gained an electronic chip to comply with the US Visa Waiver Programme

Chronic Back Pain

Chronic back pain is something i have suffered for some time now and this week has been particularly bad. It began on Monday i had been trying to do the laundry and the normal day to day ache that i always had increased in severity until it was becoming unbearable. I take Co Dydramol 4 time daily to help with the day to day aching and have Tramadol for when the pain becomes bad. The thing about taking Tramadol though is that it really does help with the pain but i feel awful whilst taking it, i feel dizzy and unsteady on my feet, i also feel light headed and find it hard to concentrate on anything.

By Wednesday the pain was intense so much so that i was almost in tears, i had not slept properly for three days and i just felt so awful. But what can you do except keep taking the tablets in the hope the pain subsides to a more manageable level. Well by Friday it had and now on Sunday i am back to the normal dull aching which i can put up with. I hate these bouts of intense pain though and i really do try not to do too much as this is normally what brings it on, but hey i have to keep clean and i would not have thought doing a little laundry would leave me feeling like that.

This all began when i was in my twenties and i would lose a week or so from work each year when i would have chronic back pain, it would pass and i would return to work. This went on exactly the same until i was 41, at that age i had a small knife pushed into my lower back (another story for another time) and after healing i noticed that instead of the yearly loss of work for a week or so i began getting intense pain and being off work a 2 or 3 times a year now.

In 2002 aged 46 i was involved in a serious car accident, i was extremely lucky to survive, the car after the initial impact rolled a number of times before coming to rest upside down in a dyke. Well again after i healed and was deemed fit for work i went back but it was just awful every time i tried to work i would end up in severe pain. In fact for a year i was 1 or 2 weeks at work and then 3 weeks sick. as i say this went on for a year. My boss was very understanding but even so it was not fair on him or the company that i was always on the sick, eventually my GP came to the same conclusion and signed me as unfit for work permanently. I have seen a consultant and was told what was wrong and that there was no operation that could correct it, the consultant said that all he could offer was medication to manage the pain.

So this is where i am at now at 54 years of age unable to work and having to be careful of how much i do around the house, also i do not know if its as a result of the car accident or the medication or indeed my age but my short term memory is getting worse, so much so that if i do not write important things down then i forget them. Its awful to be like this. I get depressed at times especially during the winter months and for the most part i keep it to myself after all if i talk to the GP about it then all i will get is more tablets. Its hard to manage on what benefits i get they certainly do not replace a working wage and now with all the changes that the coalition government are making to try and sort the country out then as far as i can see things are not going to improve for me there.

God Mode

I am a member on the TalkTalk forum and a couple of members there brought this to my attention. Thanks MarkD and westendboy.

Aimed at Windows 7 users both 32 and 64 bit primarily but this also works on Vista 32 bit as well. (vista 64 bit users have reported problems).

God Mode is a way to be able to see all of the operating system’s control panels from within a single folder rather than hunting through Control Panel.

You create new folder in Windows 7 or Vista (32 bit) and rename it with a certain text string at the end, you then have a single place to do everything from changing the look of the mouse pointer to making a new hard-drive partition.

I have tried it on my Windows 7 install and it works very well indeed, so how do you do it. Well simply create a new folder and name it exactly as shown below.

After the folder is created it will automatically change from the folder look to this screenshot:

Open this panel to see all the available options before you, if i was using my Windows regularly then this is something i would use as its nice to have everything available in one place and not have to go looking. The screenshot below shows what its like when open.
